Instructor

George Bussey Sensei, 2nd Dan

Sensei George began his Shotokan karate journey at the age of four when he attended his first lesson with his father, Sensei Mick Bussey. Over the past 22 years, karate has remained a central part of his life, with all of his training taking place under the guidance of Sensei John Euden.

As a junior competitor, George enjoyed success on the competition circuit throughout the late 2000s, achieving multiple podium finishes in both kata and kumite at cadet level. These experiences helped develop a strong technical foundation while reinforcing the discipline, commitment, and spirit of traditional Shotokan karate.

In 2021, George took over the instruction of the family dojo, continuing its long-standing tradition within the England Shotokan Karate Union. Since becoming chief instructor, he has played a key role in developing students through the grading syllabus, helping guide several members to Dan grade success while continuing to build a strong and supportive training environment.

George's teaching philosophy reflects the values that have shaped his own development: technical precision, continuous improvement, mutual respect, and making traditional karate relevant to modern life while remaining true to its roots.

Having trained under Sensei John Euden throughout his entire karate career, George continues to study and develop his understanding of Shotokan karate through regular training and instruction. In 2023, he was awarded his 2nd Dan, marking another important milestone in a journey that began in early childhood and continues with the same passion and dedication today.

As a second-generation instructor, George is proud to continue the legacy of the dojo established by his father while helping the next generation of karateka develop both their technical ability and the traditional values that lie at the heart of Shotokan karate.
